Surgery is not an "easy fix"

The Picture above is me age 32, taken jan 2012 i'm considered medically to be "morbidally obese". It's a horrible term to have to hear and to repeat let's face facts i'm FAT plain and simply. I've been big my entire life i have never known a day in my life that i was not over weight. I'm not as active as i could be or should be this is true but i also have limitations placed on me. it is so easy for everyone to say do this do that but until your in my shoes your words are just words.
I have artritis in my left knee to the point my entire left leg and foot swell to the point most days i can not wear socks as they cut off my circulation. i got to bed with my leg propped on a pillow and by morning it's still swelled.
I have severe obstrucial sleep apena for those that are in the dark it means i stop breathing in my sleep which leaves me not very well rested and very tired and weak, as well as it places strain on my heart, which is already enlarged. i also have asthema with a cronic cough.
i have tried diet pills, starvation, i even bought a wii and dance games to become more active.
a former friend and i use the term very loosely i'm sure he'll have something to say in regards to that as he has something to say about everything and usually it is just to hear himself talk as he knows nothing about nothing but believes and feeds his own ego that he knows everything about everything.
a quote from his blog that he had to send to my sister in order to get to me
"She beleive the lap-band surgery is gonna make, and keep, her thinner and healthy. Conclusion:Only she can keep herself healthy and the lap-band is a quick and easy band-aid,not a solution.Carney Wilson is proof stomach surgery of any kind isnt a be-all and fix-all.But as with everything else, she wants the easy way out so shes gonna go thru hell for eventual realization that it cant fix you, only YOU can fix you."
Let's list a few facts shall we?
1) i am not having the lap band they no longer do that surgery in Nova Scotia. I am having a Gasteric Sleeve done
2) not everyone get approved for this surgery you have to prove that you need it that you want it and that you have tried other options first. I have been on a waiting list for this for 7 years
3) some of the requirements i must fullfill before having it done is to be smoke and drug free for 6 months, do a 2 week liquid diet of 2100 calories or less per day but also high in protein, then i have to do a 3 month diet of 2100 calories or less per day i must keep a record of it all and be seen by a dietation to help with meal plans as well as see a physical therapist to help me cooridate an activity plan that works for me and my limiations.
4) this surgery is a life long commitment and life altering. there is no turning back it is completly non reversable. it's not like staples or elastic bands. They actually physically remove 80 percent of my stomach and i must learn to eat and drink all over again. the first year after surgery i am not permitted a drop of alcohol.
so the next time someone wants to open their mouth about how i am taking a cowardly way out, or a quick fix or a band aid for my health problems shut your pie hole and check your facts first.
